Maria Borghoff, MA, LPCC, E-CYT
Psychotherapist + Artist + Teacher
Since 2011, I have supported thousands of people through the many thresholds of life. My approach to therapy is grounded in liberation – holistic and adaptive, transparent and collaborative. I support people who are in seasons of healing, dying, birthing, and becoming. I believe the natural world is pulsing with aliveness and magic, and I weave this view into my work with adults, couples, and helping professionals.
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in the state of Colorado. I am a Yoga School founder and Experienced Certified Yoga Teacher (E-CYT) with advanced training in Sri Vidya Tantra Hatha Yoga Meditation. I have also completed training in:
Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Trauma-Informed Somatic Yoga
Perinatal and Parent-Infant Mental Health
Death Doula and End-of-Life Care
Reiki Energy Healing
Nature-Based and Expressive Arts Therapy
Sexual Integrity
Interpersonal Therapy
Mother-Infant Therapy Group
Circle of Security Attachment Model for Caregivers and Children
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Relational-Cultural Therapy
I enjoy working with people who are navigating stress, nervous system disorder, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, sexuality and intimacy, pregnancy and postpartum, end-of-life and terminal illness, psychedelic integration, career transition, and spiritual identity. I have gratefully worked in a range of settings including community mental health, schools, museums, intimate partner violence shelters, residential programs, hospice, psychiatric rehabilitation, corporate offices, and in-home therapy. Wild Embrace Healing is a living altar where I offer eco-art psychotherapy, yoga meditation immersions, teacher training, and consulting.
My home and work exists on the unceded lands of the Ute, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne people, now known as Lakewood, Colorado, where I enjoy witnessing the subtle shift of seasons and singing songs to carry me through moments both mundane and mysterious.
Research shows that the most significant factor in therapy being successful is the relationship you have with your therapist. I feel honored each time by the courage it takes for someone to initiate contact with a therapist, and I am grateful for the privilege to serve each person I meet on this path.
